The Horrors' - EP

If you're feeling sinister (no connection to Belle & Sebastian) you should give this a spin. These five sub-20 year-olds from Britain are the next generation Misfits, with a bit more bite. They're already getting press everywhere from NME to Q Magazine. The newest issue of Q lists "Sheena Is A Parasite" as one of the "50 Essential Downloads This Month" (as well in their Rising Stars Section). I couldn't agree more with either statement. Not only did they have a mention in NME, but they made the front cover of the magazine in the August issue.

My only complaint listening to the EP is that it's too short, as are the bands live sets, which typically clock in at sub-15 minutes, but their more recent shows are apparently almost hitting the 1/2 hour mark. It's a great start that will for sure get you salavating for their full-length debut, due out in early 2007.

In the more immediate future the band plans to release a new single (in the UK only, unfortunately). Here's the post from the band about the new single:

We are to release 'Count In Fives' on October 30 in the UK. This new version was produced by Jim Sclavunos (of Nick Cave's Bad Seeds) and mixed by Alan Moulder.

The track will be available on two 7" vinyl singles and download. One 7" will be backed by 'Who Says' and the other by 'Night Of The Long Knives', while the download will feature both.

Essential Tracks
Sheena Is A Parasit
Death At The Chapel
