Fruit Bats - Friday Night @ Mercury

It's a bit delayed, I know, but I just wanted to say a quick praise to the credit of the Fruit Bats for putting on an amazing set Friday night at the Mercury Lounge, along with Swedish openers Amandine. The band was in great form and had a jovial feel throughout their 60+ minute set. The set included many personal favorites off of their sophomore release (Mouthfuls) and mixed in a few older and newer tunes from their two other releases. Overall a great performance with a great encore (two classics "Lazy Eye" & "Little Acorn") that almost didn't happen because bassist left the stage as the band left after the main set, and was apparently lost so lead singer Eric Johnson (not the other Eric Johnson I know from Chicago) started playing "Lazy Eye" to give Chris a chance to get back to the stage. All I can say is, if you don't have these albums you are truly missing out on a great band!
